Story So
Far

The Wirksworth Mental Health initiative is a volunteer run group that was born in September 2023 when one of the doctors from Hannage Brook Medical Centre asked Wirksworth Colts FC if they had anything in place to support the mental health of their children and young people.  It was at a time when Suicide Awareness Day was being marked by football matches across the county to raise awareness of the importance of supporting mental health.

This very quickly grew with the addition of Cromford & Wirksworth Town FC & Wirksworth Ivanhoe FC joining.

Along with connections having been made with Erewash voluntary action, The Young Futures Program (AGS), Tough Enough To Care and many other local and national mental health charities, we continued to grow.

In February 2024 we launched to the wider community and invited representatives from Wirksworth Cricket, Scouts, music centre, the general community and other groups to a information evening explain what we hoped to achieve with everyone’s support.

March 2024, we fully formed as a official organisation and started our work in building connections to help us grow and support the wider community.

Our Mission

To help remove the stigma of mental health and signpost those in need to organizations that can support them. All while promoting and supporting mental health causes and events in our local area and fundraising for mental health causes.
